Things to do in London: Greenwich Park – The Middle of Time

DSCF3769Good evening guys!

I hope you have all had a great long Easter weekend!

I had work the first three days of holidays but yesterday I finally had my first day off. Greg and I hadn’t got to spend a lot of time together for a while as we have had such different schedules, so yesterday we decided to spend some quality time together.

We went to Greenwich Park, which isn’t too far from where we live. I first thought we had had some bad luck with the weather, but as the day went on it cleared up and we ended up having a great time at Greenwich.

DSCF3766

Greenwich Park is so beautiful and it has a great view over the city of London. With Canary Warf in the background and the city itself a bit further in the horizon it is a perfect spot for a day date in the city!

DSCF3761DSCF3754DSCF3756

For those of you who doesn’t know (I didn’t make the connection until we were there) this is where the GMT, the Greenwich Mean Time is set. Meaning that the time of the worlds is set from that point. Anywhere that is 3 hours before us is GMT +3 and somewhere that is 5 hours behind us if GMT -5. Pretty cool right? As Greg and I was talking about, it is as if we are standing in the middle of time, right where it starts. Not only is time set from Greenwich, but also longitude and latitude is based of Greenwich Park. The longer longitude and latitude it is on a map, the further away you are from Greenwich. So being at the top of Greenwich park, one can think that you are not only where time is set from, in a way you are also in the center of the world. I thought that was pretty amazing to think about!

We walked around the park, philosophized about time and distance, grabbed a coffee and sat down watching all the people and dogs in the park.

We saw this beautiful Golden Retriever and I started nagging Greg for a dog again. He said something about us not having a garden but I chose to ignore that and continued my campaign to get a Golden Retriever haha.

After the park we went for lunch in Greenwich before heading home for a cheat day of Chinese food, chocolate, cheesecake and a couple of movies.
All in all it was the perfect day.

I think it is so important in a relationship to take time to spend quality time together, such as going to the park, to lunch or just for a walk every now and then. It is so easy to slip on that especially when living together. I would hate for us to just fall into a routine of work and home, not really appreciating each other.
I can tell already after one year of living together that that is an easy trap to fall into so these dates is important to me.

Today we are back to weekdays, Greg has just come home from work and I have spent the day studying. I went a bit overboard with the sweets last night so I have been feeling a bit unwell today. But as yesterday was Easter I will give myself a pass on that.

I hope all you guys have had an amazing weekend and a great start to the week!

Goals for the week

Its  a new week and a fresh start! Time for new goals and a clean slate!

Everyone always talk about how they hate Mondays, but I actually quite like them. It feels like a new start, just as the beginning of the year feels like.

I also often work long hours on the weekend and at the end of the week since I am a student on week days so that might be a part of my love for Mondays. Uni life feels more relaxed than working hours, even though the uni work load is much more. It  is probably because the hours you study is more flexible to manage that hours that you are at work.

Since it is Monday today and a new week is commencing, I have set myself 5 simple goals for the week:

  1. Go for a Run and exercise minimum 4 times
  2. Eat healthy the entire week, and only have chocolate or candy 1 day in the week
  3. Spend minimum 35 hours on uni work this week
  4. Answer messages as soon as they come and keep in touch with friends
  5. Stay positive

This Monday has been a great start to the week. I have been for a lecture at uni that was really interesting, cleared up at home a little bit and made Greg and I tacos for dinner.
Here are a few pictures from my day today so far;

I will take the rest of the evening off now, and watch some Big Bang Theory or Silent Witness on the TV when Greg finishes his play station game.

What goals have you guys made for the week?

Perfect Private Valentine

s0083417

Hello from South London!
I hope everyone had a great valentines day yesterday with friends, partners of family.

We did not go out for valentines, but stayed home instead. We figured the restaurants would be fully booked and it seemed like more hassel than fun to get out in the crowd. I am someone who likes to celebrate as things happen and not on a later date. Both with Christmas, birthdays and valentines I always feel bad celebrating it before or after the actual date.

Greg ended up making a three course meal when he came home from work and it was excellent!
We have been watching the British show Dinner Date,  show where people go on blind dates and cooks each other a three course meal and then they rate one another.
Our valentines were heavily inspired by this show so we made valentines our own private Dinner Date. We are not exactly strangers but well well.
In between courses we snapped each other the “interviews” as they do on the show where they tell the audience how the date is going. It is killing me that I do not have Greg’s snaps because they were hilarious!

Anyway, here is some picture drizzles from our Dinner Date/ Valentines date;

That was our Valentines day! I hope you all had a great day or night!

Christmas in Norway

dscf3157

Greg and I have planted ourselves in the sofa with each our computers, Tour De Ski is on the telly and the fire place is creating a pleasantly warmth and an even better atmosphere.

This is how we are sitting now and this is how every day has been spent here in Norway during Christmas.

We traveled from London to Norway on the 23rd of December, just in time to wake up here in Arendal for Christmas Eve. In Norway we celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, with Church, Dinner and Presents. For the rest of the days until New Years Eve we just relax, eat Christmas food and enjoy each others company.

For Greg this has been an unusual Christmas, with many new traditions and ways of celebrating but he seems to have loved it.
For me, this has been the best Christmas of my life. Spending time with my family, being back in Norway – back home, and to spend it with Greg – finally!

We have eaten out weight in food and sweets, watched a years worth of movies and just enjoyed spending the time together without the distractions of work and uni.
I feel like I have fallen in love all over again!
Sadly the snow has yet to appear, so we have not had a white Christmas this year but that is the only thing missing.

Here is a few pictures from our Christmas celebration in Norway

My Sisters Turtle Franklin!

That was a little summary of our Christmas here in Norway.

Now we are sitting down to write our resolutions and wait to celebrate the New Year. We are excited to start the New Year stronger and better than ever before!

I hope you have all had a Great Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Last Week and a New Focus

Good morning beautiful people!

I am getting ready to head out to work, but before I do that I thought I would give an update and a summary with the highs and lows from the week that just passed.

I have been away for some weeks now. We have had some highs and lows here that I have been working through. But it is all worked through now and I am back to normal, and hopefully will be better than ever!

In the week that was I have worked towards getting myself healthy and feel my best. After a few health scares and feeling unhealthy my focus has gone from heating and working out to look my best, so eating, living and working out in a way that benefits my health.
It is a work in progress and I have had good days and days that I have been less successful but I am getting there!
I hope that in this week I will not have any setbacks and be 100% dedicated to being healthy. I have realized that being happy and healthy is much more important than being thin, or have great skinn or being well toned and that way I feel more relaxed and much happier.

Well, back to the week that was.

High point of the week:
On Thursday Greg took me out for a super nice date! We went to central and ate tapas before going for ice cream. It was great to get to spend some one on one time without any distractions. The food was amazing and the company was even better!
How lucky am I to be with this amazing man!

15032529_10158048112800508_1488714943_n

Low point of the week:
The low point of my week must have been yesterday, when Greg and I was watching the Saints and the Broncos and just as we were getting super excited that they were about to win, the Broncos blocked the last field goal and we lost the game! We were so disappointed!

Surprise of the week:
Trump won the election! Like so many else I am just stunned that Donald Trump won the election in America. I was up watching some of the election and I could not believe he was in the lead. I was even more surprised waking up to the news that he won! Who would have though a year ago that he would actually be president. It just goes to show that anything can happen, so at least that is a good life lesson.

I have in general had a great week, and been getting on track with food, sleep and in general feeling very uplifted and happy.
Having said that I could not get to sleep last night, and ended up with only 3 hours of sleep so I am dreading spending 12 hours as a health care assistant today. Being on such a long shift in a job were you need to be very present for the residents and the people you are looking after is very challenging when being sleep deprived.
However I am determined to keep up a good spirit and just keep in mind that at the end of the day I will get a great night sleep. And keep the coffee coming!

Have a great day everyone!

Date Night in Soho

dscf1462

Good evening!

After a day of some studying and some TV watching, I met Greg after he finished work for a date night in the city.

Because I dont have any lectures on Fridays and this is the first week back at uni, I allowed myself to a bit of a relaxed day. After a couple hours of light studying, I spent the day with some day time TV watching whilst I made a slightly unhealthy but delicious lunch.

A few days ago Greg suggested that we should go to Soho after work today and eat dinner out. It has been a while since I have gone out on a date with Greg, as I said in my previous post I have been in a mode lately where I have wanted to stay in an just relax most days. But as I am changing that now, we went out and I had such a nice time!
dscf1473dscf1484dscf1486dscf1480

We met up in Piccadilly Circus and walked to this Greg restaurant that makes pizza and pasta. You simply order by the counter and chooses your choice, which they heat up and you bring to your seat.
It is like a canteen theme, only the food was so good and it looks like a restaurant with really nice interior.
dscf1813

After dinner we walked down Oxford Street and looked in a few shops before heading to Trafalgar Square for a look around.
When Greg first moved to London Trafalgar Square was one of the first places I took him to and it is one of his favorite places in London.
It is quite nice, it is lively yet it has far fewer people than busy places like Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus.
dscf1816dscf1815

Now I super full after dinner and then snacks that we had after coming home. Greg is sound asleep but I am still wide awake – snoozing half the morning today was probably not the greatest idea.

I am so excited for the weekend now. I haven’t made any plans yet, because I thought I was going to work this weekend but it turns out that I have this weekend of!
I probably will do a bit of exercise, a bit of study and the rest just do what I want. Unless we decide to go out and see something.

I wish you all a great weekend and hope you will enjoy it!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Preparation for Stoke, Shopping and baking

20160323_204542

Now the time is 1 am and I am sitting in the kitchen waiting for my baking to be done in the oven.

As Greg and I are taking the coach up to Stoke-On-Trent tomorrow, I thought I would surprise him by making him his favorite Norwegian “buns” for the road, as well as some fresh bread rolls.

I thought it would take about one hour, so I started about 9.30 in the evening. But I underestimated the time it would take to make two different doughs, raise them and have them bake.

20160324_220830

So our planned, lovely evening watching TV and enjoying each others company has turned in to Greg sleeping upstairs, and me having an evening in the kitchen into the long hours of the night. Not that I should be complaining, I have had quite a nice time down here in my own company, working on my baking skills. There is something quite peaceful and therapeutic about baking. It does allow some time alone with your thoughts, plus working on a little “project” is always nice. And now it seems that it was all worth it, because unlike the bread earlier in the week, this batch of baking looks like it is a success! (woohoo)
I do feel a little bad that everytime I try to get together a little nice surprise such as baking or a delicious meal for Greg, I somehow end up turning it into a long ordeal, and taking away from our original plan. I guess time management is an area I should try to improve on.

20160324_23474620160325_00553420160325_005614

Before my baking session started today Greg and I went to Westfield here in Stratford to buy what we needed for our trip. I have been missing a backpack and a thermos on our previous excursions (day trips in reality) so I finally got that.

Shopping at Westfield

20160323_203259

Greg kept laughing about how proud and satisfied I was with my new shopping, but I find such joy in getting little new things I have been wanting for some time.
Be sure I will show you pictures of it during the trip.

Now I am exhausted from a long day, and we have a bus to catch in the morning, so its time for me to say goodnight and go to bed.

Wishing everyone a good night and a great Easter holiday!
